From D.C., "As we approach the midterm elections, I think there is value, for those of us who consider ourselves to be PROUDLY 'WOKE', in gathering in a theater and reminding each other of the importance of love, compassion and empathy in the creation of public policy. I will be singing original songs that offer support for your belief in humanity's ability to inspire each other to hold our government up to the ideals represented in our Constitution. Ideals that have been largely ignored in the last year and a half by a majority in Congress. I have been asked if my songs are simply preaching to the choir - I prefer to think of my solo concert as a form of 'roll call' of the decent hearted. Join me in the safety of a theater filled with the proudly 'woke'!"

After producing in May and June what by all accounts have been two passionate and provocative cabaret variety show fundraisers for 2026 Midterm Democratic Congress candidates, Producer Stephen Hanks announces the captivating cast for the third of this year’s four PROJECT 2026: BLUE TSUNAMI Cabaret variety shows. The next event at Don’t Tell Mama (343 West 46th St, New York, NY, 10036) will be on September 1 at 7 PM and will feature this lineup of great performers: D.C. Anderson, Claudine Cassan-Jellison, Bruce Clough, Mary Sue Daniels, Lianne Marie Dobbs, Sean Harkness, Liora Michelle, Karen Oberlin, Julie Reyburn, Sierra Rein, David Sabella, Richard Skipper, Ty Stephens, and Vanessa Trouble, with Music Director Ian Herman.

On June 6, RiverArts, a thriving arts organization that presents concerts and provides learning opportunities for artists of all ages based in the River Towns of the Hudson River (Hastings on Hudson, Tarrytown, Irvington, Dobbs Ferry and Ardsley) presents it's MUSIC TOUR - Live music performance of all genres on the hour from 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in backyards, on porches, in galleries, in the streets - over 150 musicians involved! D.C. will be joined by Singer/Songwriter/Acoustic bassist Ritt Henn at noon in Hastings on Hudson at the Upstream Gallery, 8 Main St for a set of originals, standards and fun harmonies. It's Free! May 4, 2026 at Symphony Space, NYC. Theatre Now presents ten new ten minute musicals. It was a marvelous evening. I was an actor/singer in Maxwell Carmel's new musical THE KEEPER.

In the first few months of 2026, D.C. participated in developmental workshops and presentations of plays by Adam Bock (THE FLOWERS), Dustin Sullivan/Kasey Marino/Jonathan Reid Gealt (DUST AND SHADOW) and Max Carmel (THE KEEPER, BRAIN ROT). THE KEEPER was also a part of the THEATRE NOW presentation SOUND BITES at NYC's Symphony Space in May, 2026.

'A Pony for Christmas'

I first encountered Todd Almond by watching him create musical theater magic with Courtney Love as she sang one of his compositions from 'Kansas City Choir Boy' in one of the short-lived and much-missed NY Times video series of three to ten minute videos of artists of various performing genres at work published online under the title, 'In Performance' (I highly recommend every one of them). As a composer, lyricist, storyteller, actor, singer, recording artist, human, Todd, is like no one else. His music theater piece 'I'm Almost There', performed in Edinburgh and New York City in this past year was a highlight of my theater going LIFE.

There are songs I hear, marvelously composed/marvelously performed, by their author that I hear and immediately know I HAVE to record. I make no attempt to match the magic of the original...wanting only that an experience of the particular story the song tells to live in my body and come out of my mouth. So we now have me, D.C. Anderson, singing, Todd Almond's 'A Pony for Christmas', reconnecting with the spirit of a child wanting something wrapped in colorful paper that was touched by 'Santa' and will offer something that the ever clever, ever accommodating, ever magical Santa would think of bringing down a chimney for ME. 'Santa' was someone who I believed KNEW me. Yes, he was partial to 'nice' but, for all my flaws, I knew in my heart that, whether or not anyone else experienced me as such, I and 'Santa' knew I was nice.

I have long been an admirer of singer Carolyn Montgomery. There was a cabaret room called DILLONS years back - the two of us were among a select group of singers that were awarded a certificate of accomplishment and who displayed further promise. Years later, we are both going strong. Carolyn performing solo concerts at Birdland and other popular NYC nightspots and I continue to act, write and record! I will be at the downstairs theater at Birdland as a guest of Susie Mosher's THE LINE UP on October 1 at 8:30 p.m.
